CCM RibCor Trigger 8 Pro Stick Review
Unreal feel with a deadly quick shot release
The CCM RibCor Line is a stranger to no one as it has one of the very quickest, most effortless shot releases in the game. This year, CCM looked for other areas of improvement with the puck feel being the standout upgrade. Thus, the Dual Feel Technology was born.
The improvement of puck feel is real, especially for players who have been using the RibCor Line in past years. This makes the Trigger 8 Pro an even better choice for the sniper looking for even more confidence catching passes and stickhandling in traffic.
Along with the blade improvement, CCM carried over the Carbon NanoLite Construction, Sigmatex STp carbon fiber and the signature RibCor E-Geometry. These work together to provide one of the best quick-release shots in the game, without question. Plus at 375 grams, it's also one of the lightest!
While I personally don't have a negative for the 2023 RibCor Trigger 8 Pro, there have been some complaints of less than stellar durability in the heel area where the Dual Feel Technology is located.
Another potential negative could be for the players who like a livelier puck feel. This is noticeably more dampened than the Trigger 7 Pro so you might have mixed feelings about Dual Feel.
Final Verdict
Breakdown SummaryBreakdown
Dual Feel Technology: 9
For the first time ever, the Trigger 8 Pro boasts an innovative foam dampener in the heel of the blade called Dual Feel Technology. This was immediately noticeable as we noticed less puck wobble while stickhandling and less puck bounce when catching hard passes. Surprisingly, the puck even seemed to stick to the blade better while shooting and felt more crisp during the release.
NanoLite Shield Technology: 10
As one of the very best construction processes available in the game today, it should be no surprise that CCM used their flagship RibCor. By utilizing very intricate and purposeful layers of carbon to make the Trigger 8 even more durable than its predecessor without adding weight. The carbon fibers themselves are called Sigmatex STp, which are extremely thin and allow the Carbon NanoLite Technology to work its magic.
For players who haven't used a CCM stick in a long time, buckle up because these two technologies make for such a responsive, consistent feel from top to bottom.
Ergonomic "E" Geometry: 10
Last but certainly not least, the incredibly unique E-Geometry shaft dimensions. I think it doesn't get enough attention as versions of the RibCor geometry have been around since the Reebok RibCor was first introduced back in 2013.
Nowadays, we see three different zones with distinct shaft shapes. The upper third features round corners with concave sidewalls for ultimate control for the top hand. The middle third uses round corners with straight sidewalls which allows the bottom hand the perfect blend of shooting security and handling maneuverability. Finally, the lower third or shaft taper boasts a concave forehand and a convex backhand to deliver the signature lightning-fast and pin-point accurate shot release.
Not only is this technology visible right off the shelf, it is something you feel while you're playing and experience while you're shooting.
